Dentist Recommendation - Galleria Area Just need routine cleaning. Lots of dentists on google, so I wanted recommendations from those with experience. Preferrably a place that accepts Principal Group insurance, but I can call to find that out. Thanks in advance!
(AP / CBS)In a case that raises questions about online journalism and privacy rights, the U.S. Department of Justice sent a formal request to an independent news site ordering it to provide details of all reader visits on a certain day.
The grand jury subpoena also required the Philadelphia-based Indymedia.us Web site "not to disclose the existence of this request" unless authorized by the Justice Department, a gag order that presents an unusual quandary for any news organization.
Kristina Clair, a 34-year old Linux administrator living in Philadelphia who provides free server space for Indymedia.us, said she was shocked to receive the Justice Department's subpoena. (The Independent Media Center is a left-of-center amalgamation of journalists and advocates that – according to their principles of unity and mission statement – work toward "promoting social and economic justice" and "social change.")
The subpoena (PDF) from U.S. Attorney Tim Morrison in Indianapolis demanded "all IP traffic to and from www.indymedia.us" on June 25, 2008. It instructed Clair to "include IP addresses, times, and any other identifying information," including e-mail addresses, physical addresses, registered accounts, and Indymedia readers' Social Security Numbers, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, and so on.
Autumn in East Kilbride, Scotland It's been a very damp Autumn here so this was the best I could get. Hardly any reds or browns which is a depressing but never mind!
*sighs* Open Eye is a great coffee house, and I'm all for artistry when making espresso - but there's artistry in efficiency, too. The young and annoying barrista this morning carefully and sloooowwwwllly made latte art on the people's drinks ahead of me, and when I interrupted him and mentioned that I didn't have time for him to do that to my drink, and possibly could he just grab me a cup of coffee, he told me I needed to wait until he got to my drink in the queue, even though they tend to let folks who order coffee 'skip ahead' of the barrista. When I pointed out I was about to miss my bus, he informed me that obviously that wasn't his fault. Since informing him that, in fact, making beautiful art on the drinks was his choice and therefore taking 10 minutes to make 2 lattes /was/ his fault would have caused me to miss the next bus, I left without any coffee. :P (I'd be livid, except that he looked about 20 and had that sort of 'but my art, it would suffer' attitude going, and I find that cute in a naive and stupid way.) *shrugs* Also, I got coffee at work, and chugging 8 ounces of caffeinated lifeforce always perks me up a bit, even if it's not the nummy stuff. I'm considering mentioning it to Scott next time I see him though.
Autumn in Lviv - a photo sketch As I met your interest to the topic I also propose you to read my small sketch about it. A month ago it was published in "Welcome to Ukraine" Magazine. Please click on the photo below to download a PDF file.
Kaddo Bourani (Afghani pumpkin dish from The Helmand restaurant) Ever eat something at a restaurant and have that dish linger long in your memories? That's how it was when my sister took me to The Helmand in Cambridge, MA, for my birthday. I don't know what food from Afghanistan is supposed to taste like but I loved everything. In particular, I loved the appetizer, Kaddo Bourani, that my sister got. It didn't sound like the sort of thing I would like since it involved a yogurt sauce and pumpkin and I don't care all that much about either of those things. But when I tasted it, I was a convert. The sweet hot pumpkin mixed with the tang of the cold yogurt sauce and then melded with the hot savory ground beef sauce. (They also offered this as a vegetarian option by leaving out the meat sauce.) The blend of flavors, textures, and temperatures made me sigh happily. When I got home, I looked on the restaurant's website to see if they shared the recipe and they didn't. Alas. If you're in San Francisco or Boston, I heartily recommend making reservations to eat at The Helmand.
When I was looking for pumpkin recipes last month, I stumbled upon The Recipe! I read it eagerly and was surprised to see that it required baking the pumpkin for over 3 hours. Not something to make on a whim. Well I finally tried it and it was worth every moment of waiting. The hardest part was preparing the pumpkin. The rest of the recipe is fairly simple and straight-forward. But it did take a long time. I kept going over to check on things. By the time I was done cooking, eating, and cleaning everything up, I lay down and noticed, "Wow...my FEET are sore from all that cooking and cleaning." But you know what? I loved it. I couldn't believe that something that tasted so good had come out of my kitchen. I only regret that the stores around here seem to sell fresh pumpkins only for Halloween. So I guess I'll have to wait until next year to make this again.
(If anyone in Boston or Seacoast New Hampshire knows where I could buy some sugar pumpkins, please let me know!)

Crunchy whole wheat flaxseed molasses crust, topped with basil-walnut-garlic-lemon-Jesus pesto, pan-seared roma, red & yellow bell peppers, and crimini. Also with pornographic manchego & double-cream French brie. We ate it in low light, for some of the same reasons people have sex in low light.
Breakfast with Roswell Asparagus and zucchini round this one out. I'm happy that it's still warm enough that we can breakfast on the back porch. These days will be gone soon enough.
Autumn in Lviv Welcome to the mysterious ancient streets and the golden hills of Lviv. In autumn, bright colours seem to break the gravity of the medieval city, and even gloomy grey stones look more warm and vivid.. ( more... )

Sessions There exists in the world a phenomenon known as Irish session music (or, more simply, sessions, as if the Irish played the only music in the world). In this phenomenon, which is practiced throughout the English-speaking world and probably beyond, a group of people get together regularly to play music together. The instruments vary widely, from fiddle and pennywhistle to flute, hammered dulcimer, concertina, pipes, and electronic keyboard. The tricky bit, however, is that people just sit in a circle and play, and if you know the tune you join in, and if you don't, you sit out. Nobody calls out the name of the tune (until maybe after), and one tune gets played into another one until you get sets that are 15 minutes long. The repertoire is HUGE, and many tunes sound similar, and many of them go by two or three names (which don't help you anyway as nobody ever says them), and they are played extremely fast. Traditional sessions are incredibly intimidating, as you have to be extremely good with your instrument(s) before you even consider sitting down. There's usually at least one person, usually a man, usually older, who scowls at you for playing a wrong note or for being out of tune. ( cut for adventures in piping )
